By Outlawing Solidarity, A Free Trade Organization To Which An Overwhelming Majority Of Polish Workers And Farmers Belong, They Have Made It Clear That They Never Had Any Intention Of Restoring One Of The Most Elemental Human Rights The Right To Belong To A Free Trade Union.

But The Simple Truth Is That We've Lost Control Of Our Own Borders, And No Nation Can Do That And Survive.

I Am Told That Tens Of Thousands Of Prayer Meetings Are Being Held On This Day; For That I Am Deeply Grateful. We Are A Nation Under God, And I Believe God Intended For Us To Be Free. It Would Be Fitting And Good, I Think, If On Each Inaugural Day In Future Years It Should Be Declared A Day Of Prayer.
