Government Has The Responsibility To Provide The Climate In Which Americans, All Americans, Have An Opportunity For Good Jobs; And Not Only For Good Jobs, But An Opportunity If They Have The Ability And The Desire, To Be Owners And Managers, To Have A Piece Of The Action, Because If They Have A Piece Of The Action, Then They Believe In The System Rather Than Fighting Against It.

If I Were To Make Public These Tapes, Containing Blunt And Candid Remarks On Many Different Subjects, The Confidentiality Of The Office Of The President Would Always Be Suspect.

What We Do With This Peace-whether We Preserve It And Defend It, Or Whether We Lose It And Let It Slip Away-will Be The Measure Of Our Worthiness Of The Spirit And Sacrifice Of The Hundreds Of Thousands Who Gave Their Lives In Two World Wars, Korea, And In Vietnam.

It Is In That Spirit, The Spirit Of '76, That I Ask You To Rise And Join Me In A Toast To Chairman Mao, To Premier Chou, To The People Of Our Two Countries, And To The Hope Of Our Children That Peace And Harmony Can Be The Legacy Of Our Generation To Theirs.
