Democracies Don't Go To War Against Each

In The Emerging Global Economy, Everything Is Mobile: Capital, Factories, Even Entire Industries. The Only Resource That's Really Rooted In A Nation--and The Ultimate Source Of All Its Wealth--is Its People.

This Is A Huge Problem. If We Don't Deal With This Within Just A Few Years, You Will Have Island Nations Flooded; You Will Have The Agricultural Balance Of Most Countries Completely Changed; You Will Have A Dramatic Increase In The Number Of Severe, Unmanageable Weather Events... And The Good News Is That We Can Now Deal With This Problem - And Strengthen Our Economic Growth, Not Weaken It.

When I First Came To Washington In The 1960s, Even At The Height Of The Vietnam War, Until The End There In '68 There Was A Certain Climate Of Cooperation. And Then In The Late Sixties And In Through The Seventies, Politics Began Getting More Mean. And Then From The Eighties On It Seemed To Be Institutionalized, This Personal Attack Business. And I Just Hate It.

Everybody Has A Gas-guzzling Car Because People Like Suvs. They Would Like Suvs If They Were Hybrid Vehicles That Had The Same Horsepower And Used Less Gasoline. Instead, What The Auto Manufacturers Are Doing Is Building Suvs That Are Hybrid Vehicles That Use The Same Amount Of Gasoline Because They Up The Horsepower. That's A Decision That They Make To Market Irresponsible Economic Behavior. The American People Like The Suvs, They Have Kids, They, They Need Them, They Get Around In Them, But We Have Options.

The Last Time I Checked, The Constitution Said, 'of The People, By The People And For The People.' That's What The Declaration Of Independence Says.
