Denigration Of The Full Faith And Credit Of The United States Would Have Substantial Effects On The Domestic Financial Markets And On The Value Of The Dollar In Exchange Markets. The Nation Can Ill Afford To Allow Such A Result. The Risks, The Cost, The Disruptions, And The Incalculable Damage Lead Me To But One Conclusion: The Senate Must Pass This Legislation Before The Congress Adjourns.

We Owe This Freedom Of Choice And Action To Those Men And Women In Uniform Who Have Served This Nation And Its Interests In Time Of Need. In Particular, We Are Forever Indebted To Those Who Have Given Their Lives That We Might Be Free.

Our Enemies May Be Irrational, Even Outright Insane, Driven By Nationalism, Religion, Ethnicity Or Ideology. They Do Not Fear The United States For Its Diplomatic Skills Or The Number Of Automobiles And Software Programs It Produces. They Respect Only The Firepower Of Our Tanks, Planes And Helicopter Gunships.

Government Does Not Solve Problems; It Subsidizes Them.

You And I, As Individuals, Can, By Borrowing, Live Beyond Our Means, But For Only A Limited Period Of Time. Why, Then, Should We Think That Collectively, As A Nation, We're Not Bound By That Same Limitation? We Must Act Today In Order To Preserve Tomorrow.
