For This Reason, It Is Always Observable, That Those Who Are Combin'd To Destroy The People's Liberties, Practice Every Art To Poison Their Morals.

The Natural Liberty Of Man Is To Be Free From Any Superior Power On Earth, And Not To Be Under The Will Or Legislative Authority Of Man, But Only To Have The Law Of Nature For His Rule.

He Therefore Is The Truest Friend To The Liberty Of His Country Who Tries Most To Promote Its Virtue, And Who, So Far As His Power And Influence Extend, Will Not Suffer A Man To Be Chosen Into Any Office Of Power And Trust Who Is Not A Wise And Virtuous Man.

A True Patriot Would Keep The Attention Of His Fellow Citizens Awake To Their Grievances, And Not Allow Them To Rest Till The Causes Of Their Just Complaints Are Removed.

I Would Advise Persisting In Our Struggle For Liberty, Though It Were Revealed From Heaven That Nine Hundred And Ninety-nine Men Were To Perish, And Only One Of A Thousand To Survive And Retain His Liberty. One Such Freeman Must Possess More Virtue, And Enjoy More Happiness, Than A Thousand Slaves.
