Fifty Years Ago, Great Schools Like The University Of California And The City University Of New York - As Well As Many State Colleges - Were Tuition Free. Today College Is Unaffordable For Many Working Class Families. For The Sake Of Our Economy And Millions Of Americans, We Must Make Higher Education More Affordable.

In Germany, Many Other Countries, College Tuition Is Free. Why Isn`t Free In America? Why Do We Have The Highest Rate Of Childhood Poverty When Other Countries Have Rates Much Lower Than We Have? Why Don`t We Have Pay Equity For Women Workers? Why Aren`t We Leading The World In Transforming Our Energy System In Terms Of Climate Change? We Can Do That. Are We Dumb? Are We Lazy? Not The Case.

In Terms Of Iran And In Terms Of Saudi Arabia, Of Course They Hate Each Other. That's No Great Secret. But John Kerry, Who Is I Think Doing A Very Good Job, Has Tried To At Least Get These People In The Room Together Because Both Of Them Are Being Threatened By Isis.

It Costs A Hell Of A Lot More Money To Put Somebody In Jail Than Send Them To The University Of Virginia.

So As A Nation, We Have A Right To Be Very Proud Of The Successes That We Have Seen Because Of The Struggle Of Millions Of People To Create A Less Discriminatory Society. That Is Something We Should Be Proud Of, But There Is One Struggle In Which Not Only Have We Not Succeeded But In Which We Are Losing Ground And That Is The Fundamental Struggle For Economic Justice.
